| Details: | SUMMARY: Water plant break-in follow up DETAILS: Jim called at 10 am on 9/15 to indicate that there was a break-in at the water treatment plant on Sunday 9/14. A citizen called the police after seeing someone using tools to pick the lock on the plant office door on the morning of 9/14. When the police arrived on 9/14 the door to the plant was open but the intruder had left. Jim shut the plant off at 8:30 on 9/14 after finding out about the break-in. The plant was turned back on at 9 am on 9/15. Users are currently being served by the two 0.5 MG reservoirs in distribution. The pH meters, on-line turbidimeters and chlorine analyzers indicate pH, NTU and chlorine residuals at acceptable levels. After consulting internally, I indicated it was the Citys call whether to flush the 45,000 gallons of water stored in the chlorine contact chamber & clearwell that could have been impacted during this breach, and that flushing and not serving water would be the most conservative option. ACTION NEEDED: Jim to decide best course of action, and let DWS know if the water in contact chamber and clearwell were flushed out or not. | ||
