Details: | SUMMARY: Boil Water Advisory - loss of chlorine residual DETAILS: The overnight theft of water has stopped. Thus, the residence time of treated water in the "clearwell" (5 2,500 gallon tanks in series) increased markedly. The result is that the chlorine residual at the outlet of the clearwell went to undetectable. Thus, a boil water advisory will be issued. The corrective action will be to increase the inlet dose of hypochlorite, likely to about 3 mg/L. Then monitor the outlet chlorine residual until it exceeds 0.3 mg/L at which point CT will be met. ACTION NEEDED: Tracer study needed. The assumed contact time of 120 minutes is a conservative estimate. A tracer study will allow for a likely longer contact time and a resultant reduction in required chlorine residual. |
