Details: | SUMMARY: DBP optimization DETAILS: TTHM concentrations have remained above half the MCL, and Marty is interested in getting those lower. Discussed lowering chlorine concentration since actual CT far consistently exceeds required CT by factor of 2.5 to 6. Could operate at chlorine concentration of 0.4 mg/L, though Marty may start with a higher concentration like 0.9 mg/L. Second effort is to cycle the water in the reservoirs. The Queens Ave reservoirs all float together, so cycling the water could be done by drawing down all, then manually closing off one while refilling the others. Close off another and open the first closed one. Also, pre-pH adjustment is used with alum which interfers with the alum efficiency. Consider stopping pre-pH adjustment. ACTION NEEDED: none |
