| Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic over the MCL DETAILS: Called the water system contact, Melissa Walton, regarding the recent arsenic sample collected on February 21, 2018, shortly after arsenic media was added to the system and the backwash flow rate was increased. Mrs. Walton indicated that she was aware of the recent exceedance and that she would be in contact with the Mayor. She also indicated that she would also plan on notifying the consumers of the exceedance. Also, discussed possible causes of the exceedance such as the water chemistry in the source that was being used at the time of sample collection. The system collected a raw water sample at the same time as the required monthly sample so they will know the source concentration and possibly switch to a source with lower arsenic concentration or use another well for blending. ACTION NEEDED: The water system will need to determine the reason the arsenic treatment system is not removing arsenic below the MCL. | ||
