Details: Failure to collect temporary repeat samples. I emailed Mr. Guinn to remind him that after having a positive Coliform sample, in addition to the 3 repeat samples, the water system operator has to collect 3 additional routine samples (also known as temporary repeat samples) the month following the total coliform detection.

In other words, after having the positive coliform sample result in June, the following month (July), Mr. Guinn was supposed to collect 3 temporary routine samples. This did not happen. Failure to collect temporary routine samples could trigger an increase in their coliform monitoring schedule (monthly routine coliform samples). To avoid changes in their monitoring schedule, I advised Mr. Guinn to ensure all quarterly samples are collected in time for the next 12 months. As mentioned above, failure to collect and report another routine sample within the next 12 months could trigger an increase in the sampling schedule. The operator was also told to review the Coliform Sampling Plan. The plan should include instructions to collect temporary routine samples.
