Details: | I spoke with the operator of JLR public water system regarding their third quarter arsenic test. This system takes an arsenic sample quarterly and treats for arsenic. The third quarter arsenic test was reported as being taken from the source. This sample should be taken at the entry point. The operator states that the sample was taken from the usual location, after treatment, at the entry point to distribution. The operator used language that was not clear about the location of the sample calling it Well 2, after filters. Test results appear to confirm this, as the arsenic levels are similar to other treated sample results and not similar to typical untreated sample results. However, the lab contacted me and was clear that the source box was checked on the chain of custody form accompanying the submitted test. The lab indicated they were not able to alter this designation and would not attempt to discuss the matter with Drinking Water Services. I have reached out to the DWS compliance specialist and shared this scenario. The system and I will monitor the situation and this contact report will be altered accordingly once the matter is finalized. |
