Details: Called Hiland Water and left a message for Matt Olsen.

Emailed John and Matt regarding the recent results for nitrates at the lower well. The results are notably higher than the MCL at 18.4 mg/L.

I requested three actions:

Take and submit to the state a confirmation sample for nitrates at well #2 within 24 hours. Averaging these results will determine if they are both over the MCL (10.49 mg/L). An MCL exceedance may require public notice if the water has been being served to customers.

An update for the immediate plan for the lower well. Most recent communication with the system has determined the lower well has been shut off to customers since November 2nd. I requested confirmation tat customers have not been served water from the lower well.

The engineering RFP results were due 11/24 for searching work to start making corrective action, I requested an update on results with next steps

I will stand by for follow up with the districts information.

Update Response::
Tooley Water District turned off the lower well (The offending well) on November 2nd. They have been operating on the single upper well since that time.
They are still taking nitrate tests of the lower well approximately every 2 weeks. In the event they are in a situation where the upper well can not service demand they will keep NCPHD informed of our decisions if they have to turn on the lower (offending) well.
With regards to the RFP. Originally they had three interested engineering firms. Two of them dropped out. They did receive one response and John expects the board to vote to award that proposal at the next board meeting (Dec. 17).
