Details: | On-Call Operator Cody Marrs notified DWS that Salem lost power supply at the online Aldersgate CT monitoring site (EP-A) on 12/31/21 from 0145-0930, roughly 8 hours. Starting at 0930 chlorine grab samples were taken every 4 hours until the issues were corrected at 1330. DWS confirmed with Salem that the chlorination system was working correctly and a nearby chlorine analyzer (upstream of Aldersgate CT site) for each transmission line (Line 1 & Line 2) showed all required monitoring data. Salem has alternative (approved) CT monitoring sites for each transmission line which was was online during the power loss situation at Aldersgate. This data will be used for monthly compliance reporting. DWS did tell them to note where the monitoring data came from on the monthly report. Salem will also be reviewing all alarm protocols in the SCADA as well as with the new operators. Since turbidity was not exceeded and CTs were met (at alternative sites), a public notice is not required. No further action is required. |
