Details: SUMMARY: Wait and Watch on next DBPs DETAILS: Both 4th quarter DBP results were well below the MCL (approximately half). The annual average (LRAA) is now below the MCL for TTHM, but still just above the MCL for HAA5. (Public notice was distributed in late Dec.). Although in November Jim had discussed installing charcoal filtration right away to lower the next set of results per the enforcement deadlines, he reports that Weiss Estates did not do so. The December results were lower anyway. For the Administrative Order, Brad Daniels of DMCE agrees that we will continue watch the quarterly results and take no additional action at this time. If the LRAA for both compounds drops to an acceptable level by the summer, we may be able to close the Order. Furthermore, if Weiss Estates receives the SRF funding for and conducts a feasibility study in the next several months, they may be able to settle on long-term solutions to several system issues including the recurring DBP problems up to now. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to monitor the quarterly DBP results.
