Details: SUMMARY: Review of lead and copper requirements - no changes needed. DETAILS: This contact report documents the findings of a file review of the requirements under the lead and copper rule with respect to water quality parameter (WQP) monitoring. The finding is that minimum WQPs are not required to be established. Records show that the system exceeded the lead action level (AL) in 1993 when it was just a purchasing system. The system was DEEMED to be done with corrosion control in a letter to the City dated 7/31/96. Samples taken July 2000 showed 2 of 10 sites exceeded the lead AL, but the sampling was considered unrepresentative after the system sent follow-up sampling of 10 more samples taken Aug 2000 and a letter explaining why the 2 high results were unrepresentative. 8 subsequent rounds between 1993 and 2009 were well below lead and copper ALs. In 2012, the system brought 8 new wells with arsenic and caustic soda treatment on-line and did two 6-month demo rounds of 20 tap samples each (Nov 2012 and April 2013) showing they were well below ALs. Since caustic was added, but not in response to an AL Exceedance, no minimum WQPs were set. Another round taken in July 2016 confirm the low levels. ACTION NEEDED: No changes needed.
