Details: | 08.29.2022-Level 2 coliform investigation completed. The possible causes of the resent total coliform positive samples collected on August 15 and August 22, are likely associated to the same deficiencies previously identified during the level 2 coliform investigation completed on April 14, 2022. Specifically: - The wellhead is heavily corroded with cracks and holes in the casing and seal. - The tape sealing up the gap around the sub pump cables that enter the tank is worn out and may no longer offer a watertight seal. The site visit on August 29 confirmed that none of the above deficiencies have been addressed by the operator. New deficiency observed: The chlorine solution tank was empty. It appears that the tank has not been monitored for several days. This likely happened after the TC+ samples were collected on August 22, but the operator is not sure. Next steps: The system must refill the chlorine solution tank with NSF approved sodium hypochlorite and start performing daily checks to verify the chlorine level in the tank. The operator is advised to keep records of when chlorine is added to the tank and when the chlorine pump dose is adjusted. The chlorine tank must be refilled as soon as practical, but no later than September 2, 2022. The operator was reminded that the system must maintain a detectable disinfectant residual throughout the distribution system. |
