| Details: | Portland had a total coliform positive result from a routine coliform sample collected at sample point WQS0003 - SE 72nd and SE Harrison Street. All water quality parameters were normal - residual was 1.98 mg/L and turbidity was 0.49 NTU. Repeat samples were collected and results will be available on April 9, 2025. No further action is required at this time. Update: 14 other samples taken on the date of the original total coliform sample in the same general area were total coliform negative and had chlorine residuals ranging from 1.59 to 2.11 mg/L with turbidities between 0.34 and 0.84 NTU. The sample locations also included one sample from the outlet of Powell Butte. Repeat sample at the same location was E. coli positive and samples upstream and downstream were negative for coliform. The total coliform positive sample and repeat sample from sample point WQS0003 were invalidated under OAR 333-061-0036(6)(a)(F). Portland will take the sample station out of service until they investigate and resolve the issue. Since the original total coliform positive sample has been invalidated, it will not count towards the required number of monthly distribution samples. Other than investigating the sample station to determine why it was showing coliform presence, no further action is required at this time. |
