| Details: | SUMMARY: Reservoir #4 algae/fungi issue DETAILS: PWB contacted DWP on 9/9/11 regarding Washington Park Reservoir #4. Staff had discovered what was thought to be algae in the reservoir. The reservoir was taken off-line and samples were taken. The initial identification was blue-green algae, however, their contract lab identified it as likely a fungi. In the meantime, toxin testing for anatoxin and microcystin was conducted-- results were negative for anatoxin and very low (0.19 ppb) for microcystin. Additional samples were taken to try to speciate the fungi. Reservoir continues to be off-line and will be drained and cleaned before putting it back on-line (likely off-line for several months).
