Details: SUMMARY: CR#3: mercury spill in Well #14 DETAILS: Well details: SGA Well #14 at Blue Lake Park, well tag #Mult 1268. 350 feet to bottom of screened interval, another 8 feet drilled below that for trapping sediment. 22 “ casing at the top going down to 12” at the bottom. Screens are wire-wrapped steel, so unsure if some mercury would stick to that. The static water level is 6-7 feet. The well is in the Sand and Gravel Aquifer. The well production is 2000 gpm. A similar situation happened in Coeur d’ Alene, ID and there is some information on the internet about it. ACTION NEEDED: The well will be considered “clean” by DEQ if the mercury level is at half the MCL (1 ppb) or below. Since this is one well of many that contribute to the entry point, it should not be a public health issue.
