| Details: | SUMMARY: Excessive Leakage Investigation DETAILS: The Fernridge School District originally contacted HBH regarding excessive leakage in the combined system at Elmira High School and Elmira Elementary School. Currently the district is losing approximately 40% of the water produced by the system to leakage. Water is supplied from a small well located on the south side of the high school campus. Water is chlorinated and caustic soda is added for pH adjustment prior to going to the water storage tank. From there, water is repressurized via a booster pump and distributed through a common line to both the high school and elementary school. This well is the only source of potable water for both schools. I visited the schools to discuss the leakage problem and review the facilities. Investigation potential sources of the leaks besides the portion of water line that was already replaced. I developed preliminary cost estimate for the replacement of the water lines to move them outside of the footprint of the existing building. ACTION NEEDED: Complete recommendation report. | ||
