| Details: | SUMMARY: Excessive Leakage Investigation DETAILS: The Fernridge School District contacted HBH regarding excessive leakage in the combined system at Elmira High School and Elmira Elementary School. Currently the district is losing approximately 40% of the water produced by the system to leakage. Water is supplied from a small well located on the south side of the high school campus. Water is chlorinated and caustic soda is added for pH adjustments prior to going to the water storage tank. From there, water is re-pressurized via a booster pump and distributed through a common line to both the high school and elementary school. This well is the only source of potable water for both schools. I completed report that summarized the leakage problem and detailed the difficulties in the replacement of the water lines by moving them outside of the footprint of the existing building.
