Details: SUMMARY: pressure loss = boil DETAILS: received a voice mail from Scott Bradway (503-823-1951, scott.bradway@portlandoregon.gov ) with the Portland Water Bureau at about 4:15 pm indicating that they had lost pressure to 4 services (the Portland Metro Zoo, World Forestry Center, Childrens Museum, and the Tri-Met bathroom). Scott wanted to know if they needed to issue a boil water notice for those customers. He said that the services all had backflow prevention devices on them, so he wasnt sure if a boil notice was needed. Since there is not only the potential for a back siphon contamination event, but also intrusion of contaminants into the drained water main from the local groundwater table through joints or leaks that may be present in the waterline, the risk of contamination is still present, so we advised them to issue a boil notice. Pressure was restored and coliform samples taken Wednesday late afternoon / evening. ACTION NEEDED: sample results are due back around 1 pm Thursday 11/7.
